Well, when I load up my AOE:DE and AOE2:DE games, the hotkey for a dock is not anything like B + o, but rather you must click on a villager and press T in AOE:DE, or you must click on a villager and then press the Build menu hotkey (I recall it being something like G or Q), and then press the Dock building hotkey, which is T. Maybe the term “Strong o” makes more sense in another language. So I am forced to speculate what he meant. When the author wrote that ((the vowel “o” from “dock” is a strong one, hence “º”)), it does not really sound very clear in English what he meant, or why this issue would make using a normal o a problem for game designers. For instance, the letter ç that the author used exists in Polish. The author must be using a foreign keyboard. To answer your question, that is the Celsius or degree symbol, and there is no button like that on a normal American keyboard. T = attack ground (the easiest to press that was still available, remember T =Target, use this to target manually) Z = set gather point (useful when hunting deer with villagers in TC so that it doesn’t shoot the deer) Middle mouse button = go to last notification (immediate access) – = gate (it’s straight like a gate, near towers, lack of better options) Mouse scroll down = idle military units (easy to access)į5 = delete (easy to press, but won’t be pressed by mistake). Tab = idle villager (easy to access) (mouse scroll up is the secondary button for this for the mass idle villager delete trick) Shift + S = unpack trebuchets (easy to access) Ordered by the way they appear on the top right (except the objectives window which was switched to be the pause hotkey)ĪLT + Q = economic view (very useful to quickly know how many villagers you have on each resource for a better economic balancing and constant unit production)ĪLT + W = military view (useful to quickly glance at the minimap and see possible idle military units)ĪLT + Z = flare (remember the speed with which Zorro made his mark on enemies) = bombard tower (the point looks like the ball the bombard tower shoots, reasonable access, near the tower)ī+º = dock, the vowel “o” from “dock” is a strong one, hence “º”. only 3-4 markets/game)ī +, = tower (the comma looks like an arrow, reasonable access)ī +. R = no attack stance (easy to access, logic sequence when looking at the buttons)ĪLT + A = line formation (easy to access, doesn’t need to be pressed multiple times quickly in succession, and if you’re looking at the army then you can keep the ALT key pressed and alternate between A and F when dodging enemy projectiles)ĪLT + S = box formation (though not frequently used, it maintains a logical sequence for the other keys)ĪLT + D = staggered formation (easy to access, same as ALT + A )ĪLT + F = flank formation (easy to access, same as ALT + A)ī + Q = palisade (sometimes we need to quickly build palisades out of a surprise attack by our enemy, needs to be very easily accessed)ī + W = wall (same as palisade, to be near palisade wall)ī + E = outpost (to be near palisade and wall)ī + T = mill (easy access, the “T” looks like a windmill)ī + Y = monastery (default, key near university and blacksmith)ī + U = university (default, once-per-game building, key near monastery and blacksmith)ī + I = blacksmith (once-per-game-building, key near university and monastery)ī + G = mining camp (default, easy to access)ī + J = archery range (to be near the stable and siege workshop)ī + K = siege workshop (default, near other military buildings, lack of other options)ī + L = stable (default, near other military buildings, lack of other options)ī + B = barracks (default, easy to access)ī + Z = lumber camp (default, easy to access)ī + C = castle (easy to access, starts with the same letter)ī + N = town center (default, easy to access)ī + M = market (default, max. W = defensive stance (easy to access, logic sequence when looking at the buttons)Į = stand ground stance (easy to access, logic sequence when looking at the buttons) Q = aggressive stance (easy to access, logic sequence when looking at the buttons) \ = patrol (very easy to access, very commonly used) Ç = dock (if you don’t have this key use the one at the right side of L) H = town center (default and fits with the rest of the setup, it’s easily accessible) The following list of hotkeys is the ones that come by default with the game.ĬTRL + Q = mill (easy to access, economic building near other non-military buildings (blacksmith and university)ĬTRL + W = blacksmith (the following 3 are ordered according to their availability through the ages) ĬTRL + T = monastery (monastery comes after university as I feel it’s slightly less used)ĬTRL + G = mining camp (default, easy to access)ĬTRL + Z = lumber camp (default, easy to access)Ī = archery (it needed to be only 1 click for extra efficiency when making units it’s easy to access)
